You need to know that your baby’s spirit is a real, living, inner person
In today’s post we will refer to the authority source which is the Bible when discussing the topic Your Baby’s Spirit Is A Real, Inner, Active, Living Person. This is a very important concept to grasp because as humans, our unawareness of this fact causes us to miss very important elements in child-rearing. Understanding this truth is also important because we need to know that the spirit of the child must be trained and we also need to know how to train his or her spirit.
Training the spirit is important because a child whose spirit is untrained will experience many problems in life.
We need to understand that the human spirit is living and active even when it appears that the body is unconscious. This also applies to the fetus in the womb and to the spirits of people after they have exited the body forever.
The human spirit possesses the characteristics of all living organisms
In the same way that living creatures possess and exhibit the characteristics of life, the human spirit also possesses characteristics that indicate that it is alive. The Bible shows that the human spirit can:
– move/be translated
Note however, that this list is not exhaustive and that there are other characteristics of the spirit of your baby that are not mentioned in this post.
THE SPIRIT CAN REMEMBER AND HEAR
There are examples in the bible that show that the spirit of humans can remember in the afterlife. This raises the question as to whether or not memory is connected to the spirit in the same way that higher levels of spiritual awareness is connected to the pineal gland.
Memory in the afterlife is shown in the dilemma of the rich man who wound up in hell after living a life of luxury and ignoring the poor (Luke 16: 24 – 31). Jesus, who recounted his dilemma, said that the rich man lifted up his eyes and saw Abraham afar off and Lazarus (the poor man) in his bosom.
The rich man recognized Abraham although he had never seen him in his earthly life, reminding us that God is the Father of spirits and that humans existed in an eternal, invisible realm before they were sent to earth in a body. Maybe this would explain why some people “hit it off” with others and the feeling of “deja vue” that some people experience. Note that I am not speaking about reincarnation or a previous life on earth, since the bible does not teach that philosophy.
The rich man remembered Lazarus’ name and the fact that he had relatives who needed to escape the torment. He held a very lucid discussion with Abraham about the destiny of his relatives, a contradiction to the teachers of the belief that a person has no life after death. Furthermore, Abraham told him to remember that he had lived a good life, further confirming that the invisible person has memory (Luke 16: 25).
What are the implications of memory for your baby?
This information shows us that the human spirit is active even when it appears that the physical body is dead. Sometimes we believe that the baby is not comprehending anything, but this is far from the truth.
One parallel, for example, shows that unconscious people can hear and that this is the last sense to go in the unconscious state. An article titled “Communicating with unconscious patients,: showed that people recovering from unconsciousness reported hearing things around them while they were lying inert.
To my mind, this information is important in that it shows us that you can build certain information into your child as he or she grows, and even before the child can recollect the memory. This is like programming a computer. In the event that I sound as if I am asking parents to brainwash your baby, there is a principle in the scriptures that show that we should train the child in the way that we want them to go, so that they would not depart from that way when he or she is old.
Armed with the knowledge that your darling child is more than a body, you will now be prepared to lead and nurture the child so that his or her spirit is loaded with the positive teachings that are needed to surmount the challenges and obstacles of life.
The first duty of a parent is to teach your baby to love God
According to Deuteronomy 6, the first duty of a parent is to teach his or her child to love God. The scriptures instruct that parents are to use every opportunity to talk to a child about God, His Word, His ways and His goodness. This is not the duty of the church, school, community or the pastor, it is the duty of the parent. If there is no parent, the guardian should teach the child:
4 Hear, O Israel: The Lord our God is one Lord:
5 And thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thine heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy might.
6 And these words, which I command thee this day, shall be in thine heart:
7 And thou shalt teach them diligently unto thy children, and shalt talk of them when thou sittest in thine house, and when thou walkest by the way, and when thou liest down, and when thou risest up.
8 And thou shalt bind them for a sign upon thine hand, and they shall be as frontlets between thine eyes.
9 And thou shalt write them upon the posts of thy house, and on thy gates.
Practical ways include singing to the baby about God, reading the bible to the child, talking about God, talking about the things that God created and showing love and tenderness to the child. One baby that I am close to enjoys hearing these things about God and I know that he loves the Lord who created him and sent him into the earth.
THE SPIRIT CAN TASTE
Here are other examples that show that the human spirit is living and active. It sounds strange, but Prophet Ezekiel was able to taste while he was in a vision, or in the invisible realm (Ezekiel 2: 9 through 3: 3:
“And when I looked, behold, an hand was sent unto me; and, lo, a roll of a book was therein; And he spread it before me; and it was written within and without: and there was written therein lamentations, and mourning, and woe. Moreover he said unto me, Son of man, eat that thou findest; eat this roll, and go speak unto the house of Israel.
So I opened my mouth, and he caused me to eat that roll. And he said unto me, Son of man, cause thy belly to eat, and fill thy bowels with this roll that I give thee. Then did I eat it; and it was in my mouth as honey for sweetness.”
John the beloved also had a similar experience in Revelation 10: 8 – 10:
“And the voice which I heard from heaven spake unto me again, and said, Go and take the little book which is open in the hand of the angel which standeth upon the sea and upon the earth.
And I went unto the angel, and said unto him, Give me the little book. And he said unto me, Take it, and eat it up; and it shall make thy belly bitter, but it shall be in thy mouth sweet as honey.
And I took the little book out of the angel’s hand, and ate it up; and it was in my mouth sweet as honey: and as soon as I had eaten it, my belly was bitter. And he said unto me, Thou must prophesy again before many peoples, and nations, and tongues, and kings.”
The roll that they ate was the prophetic word which both prophets were commanded to speak to those to whom they were sent. God has fulfilled these commands by causing us to hear the words of the prophets in scripture. The words were sweet in their mouths like honey. God will make the word sweet, but the bitterness comes with the requirements that the word calls for and the persecution that some people experience as a result of speaking that Word. .
Can you teach your baby’s spirit to taste?
In my mind, the sense of taste as applied from the experiences of Prophets Ezekiel and John teach us that babies can begin to savor the flavor of the Word of God. Jesus told us in John 6: 63 that the human spirit is alive and that His Words are spiritual entities that humans need to imbibe in order for the spirit to grow:
It is the spirit that quickeneth; the flesh profiteth nothing: the words that I speak unto you, they are spirit, and they are life (King James Version)..
It is the Spirit that gives life. The body is of no value for that. But the things I have told you are from the Spirit, so they give life (Easy to read version).
THE SPIRIT CAN TOUCH
This is illustrated in the previous paragraph in which both Prophets John and Ezekiel held the roll of the book in their hands. Can you find other examples in scripture?
THE SPIRIT CAN MOVE/BE TRANSLATED FROM PLACE TO PLACE
This is a fascinating finding from the experiences of Daniel, Ezekiel, Paul and John the beloved, although that I am sure further search will reveal other examples. In the vision of Daniel 8: 2, Daniel was inside the palace of Shushan having the vision. When he looked in the vision, he saw himself on the banks of the river Ulai, the place where the vision itself was being played out.
Prophet Ezekiel in his prophecies, described himself as being taken up by the spirit of God and being taken from place to place, sometimes from one geographic location to another. I am not certain, however, in what visions he was in the spirit realm, or moved body and spirit.
For example, in Ezekiel 8: 1-3, he was sitting in his house with the elders of Judah when the hand of the Lord came upon him. The prophet had an out of body experience and went into the spirit realm, which he called “in visions of God”. In other words, his spirit became active to the point where this activity superseded natural consciousness.
In this particular scripture, he reported that the Lord:
“put forth the form of an hand, and took me by a lock of mine head; and the spirit lifted me up between the earth and the heaven, and brought me in the visions of God to Jerusalem…” (Ezekiel 8: 3).
I recently wondered why my young nephew was laughing heartily in his sleep and smiling. Why do babies smile in their sleep?
Are they still aware of the heavenly realm? Are they visited by angels?
Why do they lose these experiences as they grow?
This brings us to Apostle Paul, who said that he was translated up into the third heaven, although he was unsure whether or not he was in the spirit form or whether or not his body and spirit went together (2 Cor 12: 1-5). He said the folowing about the experience:
“It is not expedient for me doubtless to glory. I will come to visions and revelations of the Lord. I knew a man in Christ above fourteen years ago, (whether in the body, I cannot tell; or whether out of the body, I cannot tell: God knoweth;) such an one caught up to the third heaven.
And I knew such a man, (whether in the body, or out of the body, I cannot tell: God knoweth;) How that he was caught up into paradise, and heard unspeakable words, which it is not lawful for a man to utter.”
Phillip’s experience of being physically translated from the desert to Azotus shows that people can be translated from place to place in the bodily form (Acts 8: 39). One minute he was in the desert preaching to the eunuch and the next the scriptures say that he was found at Azotus. I suspect that people had been looking for him and that God was having some fun at their expense.
The crux of the matter is that satan is not the only one who can move people around in the spirit or in the body. God is the originator and does it for His glory and purposes as we learn from these men of God who paved the way. Free transport. Why not?
THE SPIRIT CAN SPEAK
A diligent search of the scriptures reveal that men spoke in visions to God and to angels. This was Daniel’s experience in Daniel 12: 8 when he spoke to the Lord and in Daniel 10: 16 – 17 when he spoke to the angel of the Lord.
In another example, Apostle Peter reported that Jesus preached to the spirits in prison when He went down into hell upon his physical death (1 Peter 3: 19).
THE SPIRIT CAN PRAY
This is taught in 1 Corinthians 14. The human spirit expresses its prayer in tongues, which are God’s secret codes for the revelation of spiritual mysteries. In expressing God’s emotions, the Holy Spirit helps the human spirit to pray with “groanings which cannot be uttered” (Romans 8: 26). The believer can also pray with the spirit without uttering a sound vocally.
My nephew Don – Austyn called it praying in his head when he was about 5 years old and ill. God heard the prayer of his spirit and healed him.
Your spirit can pray when having disturbing dreams by calling out the name of Jesus and by pleading the blood. This is how I learnt first hand that the spirit prays in the unconscious state.
Is the so called subconscious state the place where the human spirit is allowed to be dominant. Is this why most people dream at nights, while asleep and not while awake? I don’t have the answer to these questions, but am finding more and more that the scriptures deal abundantly with the spiritual realm.
Things of the spirit realm belong to the believer and not to the psychics, witches etc. When the human spirit is fully alert to God, He can speak to us about the meaning of the scriptures, open our eyes to hidden truth, teach us things about our lives and about things pertaining to destiny – the things which are only spiritually discerned,as Paul taught in 1 Corinthians 2.
The application is that we must pray over babies as they grow and even before they are born, so that they can receive strength. They should also be taught to communicate with the Creator verbally as soon as they can speak. However, if the baby is surrounded by an atmosphere in which he or she can hear people praying, singing and speaking about God, I believe that his or her spirit will become active and strong.
I challenge all parents, relatives and caregivers to do all in your power to develop the spirit of babies under your care as they grow. God bless
