How Did The Word Come Into The World?

Today’s bible story asks the question, “how did the Word come into the world?”

We need the answer, because last time we learnt that the Word became flesh and lived in the earth:

And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth.

And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we beheld His glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father, full of grace and truthNKJV.

So the Word became human and made his home among us. He was full of unfailing love and faithfulness. And we have seen his glory, the glory of the Father’s one and only Son – NLT

Can you imagine how amazing it was that God would love us enough to come to the earth?

Let’s learn more.

Can you imagine how amazing it was that He gave up His Heavenly riches to live in the earth?

The Word came into the world as a baby called Jesus. God told Jewish prophets about His birth hundreds of years before it took place.

One of the Prophets said that the Word would be born to a virgin.

Prophet Isaiah foretold that the Word would be born to a virgin

Hundreds of years before He came into the world, Prophet Isaiah foretold that the Word would be born to a virgin:

 Isa 7:14

Therefore the Lord himself shall give you a sign; Behold, a virgin shall conceive, and bear a son, and shall call his name Immanuel.

A virgin is a female who never had sexual intercourse with a man. She is pure and pleasing to God.

God sent His Son to a virgin, because He wanted His on to be pure.

Secondly, virgins do not have children. Women and men come together to have babies. This prophecy therefore means that the birth of the Son of God would be a miracle.

A man in the earth would not be the father of the Son of God. He is the Son of God.

Prophet Isaiah foretold that the Word would be called Emmanuel

Prophet Isaiah also foretold that the Word would be called Immanuel.

The name Immanuel means:

  • God.
  • Power.
  • Might.
  • Lord God.
  • Great God.
  • Living God.
  • Almighty God.
  • God Almighty.
  • Most High God.
  • God of knowledge.
  • God, His way is perfect.
  • The Lord God of gods.
  • God  who avenges me.
  • Who is God save the Lord?
  • Gracious and merciful God.
  • God  is my strength and power:
  • The great and terrible God, that keeps covenant and mercy.
  • God will not cast away a perfect man, neither will he help the evil doers.
  • Creator (The Spirit of God has made me, and the breath of the Almighty hath given me life – Job 33: 4).

Parents are encouraged to go over this list to help the child to grow in the fear of God and to know His names.

Archangel Gabriel told a virgin called Mary that she would be the Mommy of God’s Son

The Jews eagerly waited for hundreds of years for the birth of The Word, otherwise called God and the Son Of God.

Finally the time came!

It was a very special day, and something very special happened!

The time was the sixth month of the pregnancy of the mother of John the Baptist.

On that day, Archangel Gabriel visited a virgin called Mary. She lived in the city of Nazareth in the state of Galilee.

Mary was engaged to a man called Joseph, a descendant of David. They were from the Tribe of Judah.

Archangel Gabriel greeted Mary. He gave her the amazing news!

Gabriel told Mary that the Power of God would come on her and she would become the Mother of the Son of God.

How Did The Word Come Into The Worldbible verses

LUKE 1

26 In the sixth month the angel Gabriel was sent from God to a city of Galilee named Nazareth,

27 to a virgin betrothed to a man whose name was Joseph, of the house of David. And the virgin’s name was Mary.

28 And he came to her and said, “Greetings, O favored one, the Lord is with you!”

29 But she was greatly troubled at the saying, and tried to discern what sort of greeting this might be.

30 And the angel said to her, “Do not be afraid, Mary, for you have found favor with God.

31 And behold, you will conceive in your womb and bear a son, and you shall call his name Jesus.

32 He will be great and will be called the Son of the Most High. And the Lord God will give to him the throne of his father David,

33 and he will reign over the house of Jacob forever, and of his kingdom there will be no end.”

34 And Mary said to the angel, “How will this be, since I am a virgin?”

35 And the angel answered her, “The Holy Spirit will come upon you, and the power of the Most High will overshadow you; therefore the child to be born will be called holy—the Son of God.

36 And behold, your relative Elizabeth in her old age has also conceived a son, and this is the sixth month with her who was called barren.

37 For nothing will be impossible with God.”

38 And Mary said, “Behold, I am the servant of the Lord; let it be to me according to your word.” And the angel departed from her.
